Later this week, Scottish CND Local Groups will be holding various vigils and events in commemoration of the Hiroshima & Nagasaki atomic bombings.

The legacy of Hiroshima & Nagasaki only gains in significance as nuclear-armed states disrespect their obligations to work towards disarmament, and instead promote these abominable weapons that can only cause incalculable, intergenerational harm.

There are various commemorative initiatives taking place across Scotland this week.

Scottish CND will host a symbolic vigil on Saturday 8th August from 12pm at the Faslane North Gate - all supporters are encouraged to join if they are able to travel.

Glasgow CND will host an event at the Peace Garden in Glasgow Botanic Gardens (just up from the front gate) on 6th August from 12pm.

Renfrewshire CND will hold a vigil at Paisley Peace Garden on 9th August, assembling at Barshaw Park car park at 5pm.

CND North-East Scotland will hold a vigil in Aberdeen on 8th August, outside Marischal College from 3pm.

Ayrshire CND are organising stalls in Ayr, Irvine, Kilmarnock during the 8th and 9th of August. Keep an eye out for them if you live in those areas.

Edinburgh CND will hold their annual vigil on Princes Street on 6th August at 5pm.
