University of Aberdeen - Ballot for strike

Staff at the University of Aberdeen are being balloted on strike action in their ongoing dispute over job cuts.

University management plan to make savings of £10m.

This could see 100 jobs go.

Members of the University and College Union (UCU) will be asked if they again want to take strike action in a follow-up to stoppages in May of this year.

Relations between management and unions have worsened with the dismissal of Professor David Anderson, an elected UCU representative at the university.

Dan Cutts, president of the Aberdeen UCU branch described the dismissal as grossly disproportionate and called for management to normalise industrial relations.

Democratic Left Scotland members and friends can show solidarity with David by adding their name to the petition: https://speakout.web.ucu.org.uk/stand-up-for-trade-unions-reinstate-professor-david-anderson/
