A strong woman sings

Dundee-born Sheena Wellington is perhaps best known for performing  Robert Burns’ song A Man's A Man For A' That at the 1999 opening ceremony of the Scottish Parliament.

Her contribution to sustaining, developing and promoting traditional Scottish song goes much further than that. She’s issued a range of recordings which have sold well and been praised by critics. Sheena’s activities have involved being a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, an Honorary Life Member and Patron of the Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland and for several years, vice-president of the Voluntary Arts Network and patron of Voluntary Arts Scotland.

With Burns’ Night 2024 fast approaching, Sheena is running a Burns Song workshop at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. The event is on Saturday 20th January at 11 am, and more details and tickets can be had here.
