Away with nuclear weapons

Many Scots are not aware that the (dis)UK's nuclear weapons of mass destruction lurk in the Clyde estuary.
That's why we should share and promote the clear arguments against nuclear weapons - and the obscenity of Starmer's government committing £15, 000, 0000, 0000 to the 'Sovereign Warhead Fund' whilst still looking for ways to cut welfare benefits - which are set out in a major article expressing Scottish CND's thinking in the current Scottish Left Review.
Samuel Rafanlell-Williams suggests a range of arguments that can influence people in our country to opposed the siting of new Dreadnought submarines in our waters (ah, the language that echoes the glory days of the British empire ...).
The case for confronting the growing nuclear danger is also set out by Kate Hudson in an article which has been promoted across our continent in the current European Left newsletter (Democratic Left Scotland is a partner organisation of the Party of the European Left).
Hudson notes that we are fast approaching the eightieth anniversary of 'the criminal attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by US atomic bombs', and states that the only appropriate commemoration of these events is that 'we must do our utmost to prevent the same catastrophe happening again; let us take action to prevent our politicians catapulting us into nuclear war — and the destruction of all life on this planet'.
